Oyu Tolgoi ranks No. 1 on TOP-100 Enterprises list for fourth consecutive year for its contribution to Mongolia’s social and economic development.

Warm congratulations to all 17,000+ Oyu Tolgoi work force, supplier companies, and all TOP-100 enterprises who are creating prosperity together!
During the award ceremony, Prime Minister of Mongolia N. Uchral highlighted:
“The TOP-100 enterprises of Mongolia are not just a list of names. They represent 100 responsibilities, 100 sources of pride, and 100 engines of Mongolia’s economic development.
In times of peace, the most patriotic act is to work, to create value, to pay taxes fairly, and to help build the future of our country. National development is being realised every day through your tax reports, project calculations, employee payrolls across factories, mines, construction sites, and service sectors.”

In 2025, Oyu Tolgoi paid a total of MNT 2.34 trillion in taxes, fees, and other payments, accounting for approximately 9% of Mongolia’s consolidated state budget tax revenue.
Last year, the company contributed MNT 8.4 trillion through procurement from national companies, partnerships, taxes and fees paid to the state, and employee salaries. This equates to around MNT 23 billion circulating in Mongolia’s economy every day.
According to the third-party study by MMCG, a research and advisory company, “Oyu Tolgoi’s Impact on National Socio-Economic Development*”, if Oyu Tolgoi had not existed, Mongolia’s economic growth would have been negative each year between 2015 and 2022. During this period, growth attributable to Oyu Tolgoi averaged 12.1% annually, while the national economy grew on average by 3.1% per year.
In 2025, Oyu Tolgoi successfully implemented a concentrator expansion project aimed at processing higher-grade ore from the underground mine and improving metal recovery. Additionally, Mongolia’s first conveyor system transporting ore from underground to the surface was successfully commissioned. These developments are key steps in positioning Oyu Tolgoi among the world’s leading copper mines.
Beyond mining operations, taxes, and fees, the company contributes across multiple sectors:
- Since 2011, it has invested a total of MNT 482.8 billion in sustainable local development projects in areas such as education, cultural heritage, infrastructure, and history.
- Since 2010, Oyu Tolgoi has awarded scholarships to 2,323 tertiary-level students for both domestic and international education. A further 1,617 students and graduates have participated in Graduate Development programme, Internship programme, Apprenticeship programme, and work-readiness programmes, contributing to the development of skilled future talents.
- The operation uses on average three times less water per tonne of ore processed compared to similar international mining operations. Water recycling averages 86.7% for industrial use. Since 2013 to the end of 2025, MNT 218 billion has been paid in water usage fees.
- Under the “100 Million Trees for the Future” initiative, the company has invested in Mongolia’s forestry sector equivalent to planting more than 36.4 million trees, with this number expected to reach 45–50 million by the end of 2026.
Oyu Tolgoi’s impact extends far beyond the mine site, creating positive contributions across all corners of Mongolia.
