The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Trainer Mechanical On the Job Training in Oyu Tolgoi LLC People and Organization - Operational Safety Training department based at Oyu tolgoi mine site with the roster of 14 days on and 14 days off.

The purpose of this role is successful delivery of mechanical maintenance training in compliance with the company policies and procedures to achieve common goals and plans of the team. The Trainer Mechanical OJT will play a key role in effective implementation and management of the apprenticeship training program and tradesmen upskilling program for all Oyu Tolgoi LLC fixed plant maintainers. The primary focus will be to link mechanical competency-based training to the internationally recognized trades qualification framework (Level III certificate).

What the role entails

  • Develop and deliver training courses specifically for fixed plant maintenance trades in line with the international standards.
  • Make lesson plans and determine best instructional methods for tradesmen training and upskilling.
  • Initiate and implement improvements in training curriculum and content updates to accommodate new technology.
  • Facilitate, coordinate and motivate the apprentices during on-the-job training, practical and assessment activities.
  • Identify necessary skills for operational maintenance areas and provide through classroom and on-the-job training.
  • Observe and report trainees’ progress and program effectiveness.
  • Coach apprentices as required.
  • Maintain workshop equipment and tools in safe working order.
  • Promote good housekeeping practices at all times.
  • Cooperate supportively with training and other departments projects.

What you will need for this role

  • Mechanical engineering post-secondary or equivalent education obtained as per degrees, diplomas and certificates from academic institutions or vocational training centres.
  • Workplace training and assessment competency diploma, certificate IV or equivalent.
  • Significant practical experience and on the job training in industrial mechanics or relevant fields.
  • Knowledge of mining systems & processes with the ability to continuously learn and adapt to the new technologies.
  • Advanced skills in MS office software programs
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
