The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Superintendent Operations Planning in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Technical and Integrated Planning – Mine Technical Services department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine site and Ulaanbaatar office 7/7/5/2 bases.

The purpose of this role is to lead, plan, organise, train and provide systematic guidance on the implementation and performances of the immediate team within the functional unit consistently in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the operation's objective and the targeted plan.

What the role entails

  • As part of the leadership team of the mine, provide visible and felt safety leadership to the MTS workforce but also other areas such as Open Pit.
  • Ensure the safety of all team members and that risks are identified, mitigated and managed
  • Manage and supervise all of short term mine planning and designing activity in daily, 2 weekly and monthly range.
  • Assist the mining operations to achieve production targets and manage compliance to plan
  • Manage and provide engineering control of the mining risks that would jeopardize the safety and economic viability of the mine plan
  • Support operations team through operational planning, reporting and feedback proviging
  • Manage, lead and develop the team members through effective communication of team and individual role objectives and performance review system.
  • Form effective working relationships with Managers, Superintendentss and key stakeholders across Open Pit, Underground, Concentrator, Sales/Marketing and Logistics and Finance/Business Analysis deparments for effective communication and alignment.
  • Maintain and implement accountable leadership practices which include effective work performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, and training.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement supporting the team in implementation of relevant initiatives.

What you will need for this role

  • Diploma or certificate in Mining Engineering or relevant discipline is preferable
  • At least 10 years of Mining, Planning, Operation or relevant role experience is required
  • Experience in Mining software such as MS3D, Vulcan,
  • English competency (both written and oral) is essential.
  • Good knowledge and usage of MS office software
  • Strong demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Good data analysis skills
  • Experience in a complex fast-paced environment, positive attitude and willingness to take on challenges
  • Logical thinking with creative problem-solving ability
