The opportunity

We are looking for one ( 1) Specialist Specifications and shutdown management in Oyu Tolgoi LLC Underground Mobile Maintenance department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine site with roster 14 days on and 14 days off.

The primary role of this position is to provide effective leadership in optimizing shutdown processes, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This entails leading team development, scrutinizing shutdown scopes and conducting post-shutdown reviews. Furthermore, this role is responsible to lead the development and validation of the purchase specifications and technical evaluations to align with organizational goals and safety standards.

What the role entails

  • Lead, develop, and coach team members to foster a culture of growth and excellence.
  • Optimize and scrutinize shutdown scopes and rebuild proposals from contract partners to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead meetings throughout shutdown phases, ensuring clarity of tasks and expectations, and fostering compliance with scope of work.
  • Conduct thorough post-shutdown reviews, analyzing duration, cost, and performance outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Review and validate standard machine purchase specifications to align with business needs, incorporating functional and process safety requirements.
  • Partner with mining teams to review and fairly score technical evaluations, ensuring all relevant criteria are considered.
  • Manage standardization of assets and consider lifecycle costs in asset selection, aiming for optimal fleet additions and retirements.
  • Manage the library of standard purchasing specifications, recommending updates and maintaining accurate documentation.

What you will need for this role

  • Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Desirable:
  • Business degree or other commercial experience demonstrating financial acumen.
  • Line leadership experience in a mining maintenance function
  • Experience in design for reliability, operational readiness and shutdown management
  • Ability to speak and write in English at a professional level will be advantage
