The opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Specialist Metallurgy in Oyu Tolgoi LLC, Technical & Integrated Planning - Concentrator Technical Services department based in Ulaanbaatar and Oyu Tolgoi mine site.
The purpose of this role is to provide technical advice and data analytical support of the functional area in large complex environment in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the team's objectives and targeted plan.
What the role entails
- Benefit evaluation for most of the major Concentrator wide BT projects interfacing with relevant teams including finance
- Advice metallurgy team on process related complex problem solving and big data analytics
- Review and update metallurgical models BDT interfacing with Mine planning team at OT and RT level
- Support team to put in place practices to improve metallurgical performance of the plant and to mitigate future challenges.
- Developing and managing data analytic dashboards of the team
- Develop data analytical methodology and support CTS team on data driven decision making and problem-solving practice.
- Identifying important production trends, insights/root causes of the issues
- Review engineering practices at OT to bring in line with Rio Tinto and the broader industry standards and practices.
- Advice the team in creating and maintaining as-built documentation for all supported systems and equipment
- Review report on performance of commissioned process improvements and support evaluation process
- Lead the safe delivery of projects through effective risk management, advice on technical.
- Advice metallurgical team on medium- and long-term planning
- Provide support on metal reconciliation process in particular long term monthly mass balancing and reconciliation
- Support to improve mass balancing practices including separated reporting of UG and OP metal production
What you will need for this role
- Undergraduate or higher education obtained through Mining, Geology, Metallurgy, Mineral processing, Chemical Engineering or relevant discipline
- At least 5 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training
- Excellent written and speaking English
- Good data analysis skills
- Able to demonstrate problem solving skills, project management skills and familiarity with continuous improvement tools.
- Advanced English language verbal and written skills.
- Advanced computer skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Office suite.
