The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Senior Process Engineer CHP – Site Infrastructure and Services – Operation department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine with the roster of 14 days on and 7 days off.

The purpose of this role is 1) to oversees the planning and execution of CHP major overhaul rebuild projects with management of different contractors, 2) to monitor and improve effectiveness of process safety critical controls implementation and 3) to hold thermal process technology engineering responsibility at CHP.

What the role entails

  • Manage and lead CHP overhaul rebuild full project life cycle
  • Establish and oversee project management team, formed with functional SMEs
  • Provide and implement standardized processes, systems and tools for project management
  • Manage and coordinate performance of multi discipline contractors including engineering, service and material providers
  • Provide transparent reporting tools to demonstrate project progress against plan, and report progress, cost and scheduling as per reporting requirements
  • Engage closely with PSM team to ensure compliance of PS standard and requirements for every phase of overhaul (preparation, execution and completion)
  • Monitor effectiveness of plant preventive and routine maintenance work orders, especially for process safety critical assets & its components
  • Conduct PSM critical control effectiveness monitoring implemented by control owners and consult report/results with CHP Superintendent and Manager (Hazard owner) for continues improvement
  • Manage PSM document control at Plant level to ensure documents (procedures, rules, etc) are reliably up to date and compliant with RT D6 standard
  • Provides advice, training or information to plant operators and critical control implementers when required
  • Assess CHP operating process regime and analyze process data, and when required, to issue recommendation or/and solution in compliance with the relevant standard, rules and regulations.
  • Screen CHP equipment operation status, mode parameter and detect faults that could affect plant operating modes, and when required to raise issue and to attend in activities including calibrations & testing, and feasibility studies etc.
  • Coordinate engineering improvement projects with SMEs, as such OT Engineering team etc.
  • Review and update operation manuals and provide necessary trainings to plant employee and contractors
  • Review maintenance manuals and recommend change or improvement to relevant owner/SMEs
  • Provide training and advices to supervisors, operators and laboratory staff when required
  • Support CHP Superintendent to develop annual and long-term operation and asset plans

What you will need for this role

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Thermal Process Engineering or/and Mechanical Engineering BA or higher degree
  • At least 5 years relevant experience in thermal supply field
  • Be able to translate, develop and use the instructions for the test instrument
  • Proven experience in navigating successfully within a highly matrix and global organization
  • Experience in operations, project management, change management or a similar role.
  • Relevant experience in lean and business improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and collaborating across disciplines.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Skills developing and working to process and procedures.
  • Excellent in English language both in oral and written
  • Experience working in the mining sector.
