The opportunity

We are looking for two (2) Senior Analysts, Planning in our Oyu Tolgoi Underground Project - Mine Coordination and Control department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine with the roster of 14 days on and 7 days off.

The primary purpose of the Senior Planning Analyst Mine is to drive and facilitate the preparation and delivery of Project execution plans that are fully integrated across all OT Underground stakeholders. The role is also accountable for review of integrated execution plan targets against shared resource constraints and accordingly identifies conflicts and gaps then proposes plan adjustments to the respective OT Underground stakeholders as required.

What the role entails

  • Works collaboratively with planners from all departments (Mine Technical Services, Maintenance, Shaft Operations & Logistics and other) across underground stakeholders to integrate plans to provide system wide view of planned yearly, quarterly, monthly, and weekly integrated execution delivery.
  • Manages, negotiates and resolves works through scheduling conflicts in close coordination with the departmental planning functions.
  • Communicates schedule and scope variances and trends to the Project Services and Technical Services teams.
  • Liaises with all the planning functions across all underground stakeholders to ensure that there is clear alignment between departmental plans/schedules and integrated planning parameters and initiatives.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with key Planning staff across Mine Technical Services, Geotechnical, Maintenance, Construction, Shaft Operations & Logistics, Project Controls, Engineering to implement a standardized approach and systems of execution planning.
  • Ensures flow of assumptions for Integrated planning across Development, Construction, Maintenance, and Shaft Operations & Logistics.
  • Ensures information and processes are entirely scalable and usable at departmental, project, and business levels as required.
  • Ensures all underground stakeholders are aware and informed of project priorities and understand the dependencies upon their respective scopes and activities

What you will need for this role:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering) or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in operational mine planning or project scheduling
  • Strong project management experience is required
  • Direct experience with complex planning environment and systems.
  • Good basis on negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience supporting implementation and integration of new systems and practices in an existing operation
  • Fast learner and ability to prioritize tasks based on Best For Project needs
  • Proficient in MS Office products especially spreadsheet modelling skills
  • Planning experience in Open Pit mine or an Underground mine
  • Hands on mine production and planning experience in Open Pit or an Underground mine
  • Proficiency in any Mine Planning and Scheduling software (ex. Deswiq, Vulcan, MineSight, Atlas or other) is preferred
  • Excellent in English language both in oral and written
