The opportunity

We are looking for three (3) Planner Shaft Operations in our Oyu Tolgoi Underground Project - Shaft Operations and U/G Logistics department based at Oyu tolgoi mine with the roster of 14 days on and 7 days off.

The primary purpose of the Planner Shaft Operations is to create and implement hoist plans and schedules for personnel movement, material movement, and slickline operations. In addition, the role is also responsible for producing and communicating shaft infrastructure maintenance plans and schedules.

What the role entails

  • Responsible for producing Monthly and Weekly hoist plans and schedules to be executed in daily and shift basis.
  • Responsible for producing monthly and weekly shaft infrastructure maintenance plans and schedules that are in line with broader fixed plant and electrical maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Analyse and identify scheduling conflicts in close coordination with Mine Coordination team then fix the scheduling conflicts according to Best for Project decision.
  • Also as required, liaise with Mine Coordination team to ensure that there is clear alignment between departmental plans/schedules and shaft plans/schedules.
  • Ensure information and processes are entirely scalable and usable at departmental, project, and business levels as required.
  • Work closely with reporting functions to analyse performance issues and ensure to address them in the future execution planning process for gap closure and mitigation.
  • Communicate and escalate schedule and scope variances to the supervisor as required.
  • Support the ongoing implementation, and later effective operation of the Underground Management Operating System.

What you will need for this role

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mining Engineering) or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in operational mine planning, maintenance planning or project scheduling
  • Direct experience with complex planning environment and systems
  • Planning experience in Open Pit or an Underground mine or maintenance planning functions is preferred
  • Fast learner and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Proficient in MS Office products especially spreadsheet modelling skills
  • Project management experience is preferred
  • Proficient in English language both in oral and written
