Munkhsukh Sukhbaatar
Munkhsukh Sukhbaatar joined the Rio Tinto Copper group as Managing Director, Growth and Development, in March 2021. In this role, Munkhsukh focuses on shareholder matters of the Oyu Tolgoi project and leads the copper growth strategy and activities from the product group perspective. Munkhsukh first joined Oyu Tolgoi in 2012 in Mongolia, where he held various management and strategic project roles and transitioned to Rio Tinto to become its Country Director in 2015. Before taking the current role, Munkhsukh was a General Manager for the Strategy & Development team based out of Brisbane.
Prior to joining Rio Tinto, Munkhsukh held several leadership roles in Mongolia and the United States in financial services, aviation, and investment management industries. Munkhsukh graduated from the Northeastern University in Boston with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and later completed his Masters of Business Administration at Haas School of Business at the University of California Berkeley.
