Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia is a copper-gold mine consisting of an open pit mine and underground development, processing plant and supporting infrastructure to produce high grade copper and gold concentrates. Oyu Tolgoi will utilise a Mongolian workforce that will be trained to effectively operate and maintain the processing plant. Oyu Tolgoi's workforce is more than 94 per cent Mongolian.

The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Coordinator Parts Supply in the Central Services department based atOyu Tolgoi mine with the roster of 14 days on and 7 days off.

The Parts Supply Coordinator will provide support to the Maintenance Supervisor and Planning team in all materials management activities both planned and urgent in nature.

What the role entails

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Attend all HSE required meeting and communicate back to the team;
  • Assist in developing a safety culture whilst ensuring that all work undertaken in areas of responsibility comply with existing safety legislation and is in full compliance with applicable HSE standards;
  • Ensure the safety of all team members and that risks are identified, mitigated and managed;

Operational Delivery

  • Assist in identifying components within the Rio Tinto Business Solution (RTBS) SAP;
  • Receive materials, resolve issues with wrong parts, and process vendor returns as needed;
  • Provides maintenance support during emergencies;
  • Work actively with maintenance supervisors and planners on a daily basis;
  • Lock parts that have been assigned to weekly schedule;
  • Liaise with planners and key stake holders on availability and requirements of parts, components and equipment;
  • Develop and execute a "materials management" plan for the Fleet Maintenance area;
  • Ensure processes and procedures are followed within the area of responsibility to support the work management process focusing on materials management process in both planned and urgent (breakdown) activities;
  • Ensure successful support of equipment utilized by all OT Departments including open pit and fixed plants;
  • Responsibilities may include working with planning team to develop detailed BOMs, scopes of work and supplier requirements, standard work procedures, and develop weekly job execution plans;


  • Work closely with Team Leader and other Associate Team Leader to ensure smooth operation of the department;
  • Inspects work performed by maintenance team and contractors;
  • May lead, coordinate and monitor maintenance crew, temporary workers, or contractors as needed;
  • Managing own career by being accountable for one's behaviour, performance and development.
  • Share leadership, mentoring skills with your team members;
  • Engaging with all relevant stakeholders within OT, Gobi Shop and Central Service;


  • Supporting to Reliability Engineer and Planners all warranty claims;
  • Provide input for process improvement;
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the Rio Tinto standards;
  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including 5S, health, and adhere to safe work practices;
  • Analyze Supply performance measures and identify improvement opportunities;
  • Managing individual performance to achieve individual and organization results;


  • Identify potential problems with parts before distribution to area;
  • Liaison with external vendors providing assistance where required;
  • Review and create spare parts lists and quotations with planners and supervisors;

What you will need for this role

  • Mechanical and Maintenance Engineering degree or related field experience;
  • Computer skills competency
  • Strong knowledge of Asset Management principles and concepts
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications
  • Good presentation and meeting facilitation skills
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to details
